EMS District 2 board approves minutes, medical oversight contract and interlocal amendment

Dr. Marla Macht, who identified herself as the medical program director for Clark County, Washington, explained that the medical director provides physician oversight for delegated EMS practice, such as authorizing paramedic procedures and medications. "EMS is a delegated practice," Dr. Macht said. "For a paramedic to give a medication or perform a procedure, that's done under a physician's license, and I'm that physician." The board approved the contract by voice vote.
The board also approved Amendment No. 1 to an interlocal agreement with Clark County Fire District 6. Staff said the amendment adds a data analyst and additional contract-administration work (monthly, quarterly and annual deliverables) to the services provided by Fire District 6. The cost for those services is $30,000 per year, paid by EMS District 2 to Fire District 6 and described by staff as covered within the EMS budget and funded in part by fees collected from the ambulance contractor (AMR) as a contract-administration fee.
