The Scotland Recreational Committee met on Feb. 12, 2025, approved its Jan. 14 minutes and spent much of the evening planning community events for 2025, including yoga classes and a summer band series, and drafting a grant memo to support handicap access at the Grange.
Chair Marie Beck opened the meeting at 7:05 p.m. The minutes show attendees Marie Beck, Monica Lindsay and Katie LeClair, with several members absent. During the meeting’s procedural business, Katie LeClair moved to accept the Jan. 14, 2025 minutes; Monica Lindsay seconded and the motion was unanimously approved.
On event planning, the committee discussed hosting yoga classes at the elementary school, with options for the gym, cafeteria or library. Meeting notes state that William Miller is available on Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. and that Monica Lindsay has a flyer for the school; the committee agreed to offer elementary school teachers a $5 discount for classes.
Committee members reviewed the summer band lineup and confirmed two dates: July 26 for Goodbye Irene and Aug. 16 for Cast in Blue; June and September dates were noted but not finalized. A proposal for a town-wide tractor parade, raised by Jim Troeger, was recorded as on hold.
Members also reviewed a drafted memo to support a Grange grant focused on developing handicap access at that venue. The minutes do not record a formal vote on the grant memo; the document was described as drafted and available to guide next steps.
The committee reported no budget updates at the meeting. Members scheduled a special committee meeting for March 12, 2025, at 7:00 p.m. at the Fire Hall to continue planning. The meeting adjourned at 8:06 p.m.
The meeting minutes do not record further votes or formal actions beyond approval of the prior meeting minutes and the drafting of the Grange grant memo; follow-up and any grant applications or event confirmations will be handled at subsequent meetings.
