Board files positive second interim financial report and approves a slate of routine items

District fiscal staff presented the second interim financial report for 2025-26 and described enrollment and attendance projections, the district's combined revenues and expenditures, and how one-time funds are being used to support programs.
Director of Fiscal Services Mister Ramos said the district ended the 2024-25 school year with 4,238 students, projected 4,266 for 2025-26 and planned modest increases thereafter. Combined revenues were listed at about $92 million with total expenditures near $100 million; staff said the gap is being addressed in part by spending down carryover (one-time) funds for targeted programs. Ramos highlighted a structural unrestricted general-fund deficit that narrows after removing one-time expenditures and said the district is filing a "positive" certification for interim reporting.
After presentations from Ramos and staff, the board approved the second interim financial report (item 6.4) by voice vote (5-0) and passed a series of routine items including the consent calendar, election of CSBA delegates, adoption of sunshine proposals for CSEA negotiations, MOUs with California Baptist University (tuition reimbursement) and Azusa Unified (bilingual teacher professional development), multiple construction notices and a resolution accepting lease termination and quitclaim deeds; all motions recorded in the minutes passed unanimously (5-0).
