Grosse Pointe Farms honors public-safety employees for rescues and lifesaving responses

GROSSE POINTE FARMS — The council recognized public-safety personnel March 9 for a series of responses over the last year: preventing an elder-targeted Bitcoin fraud, an officer-assisted recovery of stolen vehicle suspects, lifesaving AED/CPR responses, and a water rescue in Lake St. Clair.
Staff described the Dec. 16 incident in which dispatchers and officers intervened to prevent a $15,000 transfer. Dispatchers and PSOs were recognized by name in the presentation. The council also presented lifesaving awards to officers who used AED and CPR to restore a 71-year-old resident’s heart rhythm and commended responders who recovered and resuscitated a vehicle-submersion victim.
Mayor/Chair and council members joined staff in thanking the public-safety workforce for rapid response and community service.
