Representatives of the Mills County fairgrounds presented their 2025 statement of operations and a summary of capital improvements at the Board of Supervisors meeting.
Jared Mayberry, who introduced himself as “the Mills County Career President” (speaker 10), and a fairboard presenter (speaker 9) reviewed the fair’s finances. The presenters said 2025 total income was roughly $250,000 and total expenses were about $300,920, leaving a general account balance near $71,000. They highlighted capital spending on a new beef barn and other facility upgrades over the last two years.
The fairboard noted it received $44,000 from the supervisors in the prior year and discussed budgeting for the coming fiscal year. The board and presenters discussed a loan on a building with an original principal reported in the packet as $330,774 and a current payoff amount presented as about $211,007.02; the fairboard said the loan matures in 2028 and will need refinancing.
Supervisors asked about timing of county payments and budget scheduling; staff said a formal budget and public hearing process will follow the county calendar. The fairboard emphasized that many fair activities are programming for youth and community and requested continued county support to sustain those events.
What’s next: the board will consider the fairboard’s figures during its budget process, and staff said they expect to present formal budget numbers to supervisors for review in the coming weeks.
