During the Feb. 10 board meeting, district staff presented updates on multiple ongoing projects and training initiatives.
Ben Gephard reported slow but steady progress on the Deer Creek Marsh project, including outreach to soil‑boring companies, drafting bids for borings and a boardwalk pending revision, and continued soils research. He also reported Pulaski Drainage estimates for BMP sizes and a first draft bid awaiting revision, and that he has completed six agricultural assessments with two more in progress. Gephard noted a reported flooding issue at the Bellardini property and that a mid‑spring site visit is planned after the Water Quality Symposium.
Dylan Cox reported providing technical assistance via phone and email, producing a wetland plant guide and presentation to aid wetland delineation training, creating an ArcGIS layout for office use, and attending several trainings including invasive species management. Cox said he had completed three agricultural assessments and had three more in progress. Cox also reported work on water chestnut response planning, including locating potential launch sites to position interns closer to infestations and reviewing the Quality Assurance Project Plan (QAPP).
Erica Schreiner summarized administrative and AEM tasks: completion of AEM Round 18 documentation and final reporting, submission of an invoice to receive AEM Round 19 start‑up funds, review of Round 19 forms and time‑log instructions with staff, ongoing CRF Round 8 paperwork, maintenance of the district website and Facebook, and in‑house agricultural assessment training.
Secretary Laura Romanowicz reported completing 2025 W‑2s and 1099s, assisting with the Feb. 6 submission of 2025 state reports, and managing tree and shrub orders (59 orders to date, with approximately $6,700 in revenue). The board took no formal votes on these project updates but recorded them in the meeting minutes.
