MNPS schedules community meeting on proposed FY27 budget; board approves consent agenda unanimously

The Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools board received a report from the budget and finance committee on the proposed fiscal year 2027 budget and scheduled a community meeting for the public to review and comment.
A board representative said the proposed FY27 budget was introduced to the committee and that a community-wide budget meeting will be held March 25 from 5 to 6 p.m. at the MNPS Wellness Center. "This is opened up to the entire community to come in, learn about that proposed budget, ask questions, and provide feedback," the budget committee representative said. The board plans a follow-up committee meeting on April 14 and will post documentation online.
The meeting also contained routine governance business: the board considered the consent agenda and, after a motion by member Mays and a second by member Taylor, approved the consent agenda by unanimous voice vote. Chair Chip Player announced the motion carried and noted the board had eight members present.
The board received a semiannual director evaluation report earlier in the session and was told the related PowerPoint and video will be available online for public review. No substantive budget votes were taken at the meeting; the community budget meeting and subsequent committee sessions will be the next opportunities for public input and formal board consideration.
Next steps: MNPS will host the community budget meeting on March 25 from 5–6 p.m. at the MNPS Wellness Center and will hold further committee deliberations on April 14; documentation is available on the district website and MNPS YouTube channels.
