Business at 6055 Doctors Park Road may place directional sign on city property; council to add to consent agenda

Staff presented a request from a business seeking permission to locate a directional sign on city property to direct parents to an ADA-accessible drop-off area and away from county-owned parking that has created safety concerns. "Right now, in front of the business is actually county owned parking, and so we wanna take that liability away from, you know, all of the drop offs being done there," said Jesse Weiser, the applicant, who gave the business address as 6055 Doctors Park Road and cited concerns about children who are prone to elope or run from parents.
Staff clarified that approval tonight would be limited to allowing the sign to be located on city property; the applicant must still submit a sign permit and the planning department will review messaging, size and other code requirements. Council agreed the item could be placed on the consent agenda at the next meeting for formal approval.
