Longwood commission approves trespass-appeal changes, floodplain plan and a historic-district grant

At its Dec. 15 meeting the Longwood City Commission approved several largely noncontroversial items: amendments to the city code governing appeals of trespass warnings, adoption of the county floodplain-management plan and approval of a historic-district grant.
City Attorney explained proposed changes to the trespass-appeal ordinance to allow multiple magistrates, extend the hearing window from 7–60 days to 10–80 days, and clarify that the city is generally only obliged to produce the officer who issued the trespass warning as a witness. The commission closed the public hearing and adopted the ordinance on second reading by unanimous vote.
Public Works Director Chad Smith presented the Seminole County 2025–2030 floodplain-management plan. Smith said joining the county plan also brings Longwood into the Community Rating System, which can produce discounts for residents’ flood insurance. Commissioners voted to adopt the resolution.
Staff presented historic-district grant application HG0325 for 192 West Warren Ave., noting the city previously awarded $5,000 and that recent termite damage required repairs to the building’s rear. The commission approved the application and staff support.
All three items passed without recorded opposition and were adopted by roll-call vote.
