Council to consider accepting Virginia Pine Road in Wild Ridge subdivision; bond release requested

Town Manager Justice told the Signal Mountain Town Council on Nov. 24 that Virginia Pine Road in the Wild Ridge subdivision has been built to town specifications and is ready for consideration for acceptance and partial bond release.
Justice said the street has passed final inspection and the public-works department has been involved during construction. He noted that performance and maintenance bonds remain in place and that accepting the road would release a portion of the developer's bond ("a little over $9,000," Justice said), while the town retains recourse through performance or maintenance bonds if future construction traffic damages the road.
"As long as it's been built to our standards and it's been approved by our streets department, we're ready to take ownership of it," Justice said, but he and council members acknowledged ongoing construction activity in the area and asked staff to monitor for damage and to pursue contractor remedies as needed.
Council members voiced support for moving the item to the next meeting for a formal vote and for staff to remain diligent in monitoring the road during ongoing construction.
