During the manager’s report at the Sept. 22 council meeting, staff announced several community items and personnel updates.
The Development Review Committee and the Board of Zoning Appeals meetings scheduled for the coming Thursday were canceled because there were no agenda items. The manager announced a community cleanup event on Saturday, Sept. 27, starting at 9 a.m., meeting at town hall.
The manager also promoted several members of the Signal Mountain Fire Department: Jay Sharp was promoted to lieutenant (green shift); Evan Cape and Matthew McDowell were promoted to engineer; and William Groover was welcomed as a new firefighter who previously worked in the Savannah area and brings five years of experience. Staff asked residents to join the Police & Fire Department tournament on Oct. 4 at the MAC; proceeds benefit Signal Mountain Arts and Signal Mountain Social Services.
Council discussion on these items was informal and largely supportive; no formal actions were taken beyond scheduling and announcements.
