Signal Mountain proclaims Oct. 3 as Arbor Day; council and Tree Board plan planting with students

The Signal Mountain Town Council adopted a proclamation Sept. 22 declaring Oct. 3, 2025, as Arbor Day in the town.
Anne Haygood, a Tree Board member, told the council she and the board “are looking forward to working with our elementary school students to plant more trees and encourage them in knowing how to do that and taking care of them.”
Council members thanked the Tree Board and public works for their work planting and maintaining trees, noting the benefit trees provide to the community. A motion to adopt the proclamation was moved and seconded and carried with no opposition.
The proclamation text recited the origin of Arbor Day and listed environmental and community benefits of trees; council members encouraged continued collaboration between the Tree Board and town staff on planting locations and maintenance.
