Signal Mountain council honors Tree Board with statewide forestry award

The Signal Mountain Town Council adopted a proclamation on Nov. 24 recognizing the Signal Mountain Tree Board as the recipient of the 2025 Tennessee Urban and Community Forest Award of Excellence.
Mr. Webster, who the council identified as the tree-board representative, told the council the award — presented at the Tennessee Urban Forestry Council's annual conference in Chattanooga — represents the entire state and praised the board's volunteer-driven work on planning, outreach and preservation. "We're trying to come up with ideas to get our citizens more involved in taking care of our trees, appreciating what we've got, and protecting them," Webster said.
Chair moved and a second was recorded; the motion carried with council voices saying "Aye." Council members asked that the award be acknowledged publicly and suggested it be hung in the town lobby to honor the board's service. The council did not attach any formal spending or programmatic action to the proclamation. The council passed the proclamation and thanked the tree-board members for their volunteer service.
