The Signal Mountain Town Council on Jan. 12 approved several routine resolutions and personnel actions and tabled one appointment pending research.
Council voted to rescind a prior resolution related to the recycling committee after members praised the committee’s two years of service and recommended reassessing the group later. The council then approved a slate of reappointments: Andrew Coyle, John Garbage and Monica Baker to the Planning Commission; Claire Greisinger to the Board of Zoning Appeals; James Exon to the Design Review Commission; and Faith Quinn and Josh Rogers to the Stormwater Appeals Board.
Council approved two personnel-related resolutions to revise the finance clerk job classification and to create a combined records clerk/court clerk position to reflect recent operational changes. Town staff said the reorganization mostly shifts the budget responsibility for a portion of court‑clerk hours to the police department and should have minimal net budget impact while lowering the hiring grade for the records clerk position.
Council also decided to table appointments to the Hemlock Conservation Task Force while staff confirm whether the group exists by ordinance or only by resolution; members asked staff to research the task force’s legal standing before proceeding.
The council closed the meeting after briefly reviewing board reports, scheduling a special called meeting for Jan. 15 at 8 a.m., and noting the next regular meeting.
