Tavares Library details ‘Happy and Healthy Holiday’ series, $10,000 donation funded story walk

Rubenika Campbell, director of the Tavares Public Library, updated the council on the library's "Happy and Healthy Holiday" programming on Dec. 3 and credited a $10,000 donation for a story‑walk installation that has hosted five story walks since August.
Campbell said the series launched in November with a seasonal wildflower arrangement class and will continue through January with concerts, classes and a letter‑writing station that encourages gratitude and reflection. She noted the library's recent book giveaways and said the next giveaway is scheduled for a Saturday Christmas event.
Campbell announced that beginning in January the library will serve as an ambassador for the Florida Braille and Talking Book Library to help residents register for services and learn to use reading equipment. She also introduced two new staff members present at the meeting.
Mayor Laurie Pfister and council members praised the library team's work and thanked staff for expanding programs that serve diverse readers and patrons with visual and physical disabilities.
