Commission approves consent items; Riverbend dock put to bid and budget clean-up passed

Commissioners unanimously approved a slate of consent items Sept. 2 including travel-policy updates, a DFACS reappointment, a change in retirement-plan provider, a DFACS lease renewal, Caselle payment portal integration and participation in IPAWS; the board also authorized bidding the Riverbend fishing-dock project and approved a year-end budget clean-up amendment.
At its Sept. 2 meeting the Cusseta–Chattahoochee County Commission approved multiple consent and administrative actions in a single series of unanimous votes.
Items approved included: updated travel-policy mileage rates (meal rates unchanged); the reappointment of Martha Burgamy to the Department of Family and Children Services board; changing the county retirement plan provider from Corebridge to ACCG; a yearly DFACS lease renewal; adoption of the Caselle online payment portal; and participation in the Georgia Emergency Management Agency (GEMA) IPAWS alert system.
The commission also approved moving the Riverbend fishing-dock project out to bid. At the subsequent Sept. 22 work session county staff reported one bid had been returned for the project — an $90,582.11 proposal from Wahoo Docks for an 80‑by‑10‑foot fixed pier — and said the county would seek the required U.S. Army Corps of Engineers permitting before awarding a contract. The Sept. 2 motion put the project into the competitive-bid process; work‑session discussion addressed bid evaluation and permitting contingencies.
Separately, commissioners approved a year‑end budget clean‑up amendment (Exhibit A) that reallocates existing FY24/25 appropriations across departments and line items, as provided in the meeting record.
Each of these motions passed unanimously. Several items are administrative and will be implemented by county staff; the Riverbend dock will require permitting and bid evaluation before an award is made.
