Commission approves park improvements GMP, water‑supply plan update and funding for pump station power

Juste Park Phase II: Sierra Burrow, director of engineering and community development, described phase II scope—formalized trails, shade structures, new athletic equipment and drainage improvements—and asked the commission to accept a guaranteed maximum price of $826,957 and approve a construction services agreement. The commission adopted the resolution by unanimous roll call.
Water‑supply comprehensive‑plan amendment: The commission held a public hearing and adopted on first reading an ordinance to update the city's 10‑year water supply facilities work plan (CD25‑22CP). Director Sierra Marrero said the update, prepared with consultant Stantec, coordinates Oakland Park’s planning with Fort Lauderdale and Broward County and incorporates population and demand projections and potential water sources. The motion to adopt on first reading passed unanimously.
North Andrews Gardens pump station — FPL service and surtax amendment: Public Works Director Julie Leonard reported construction of the pump station was complete and staff sought to amend the county surtax interlocal agreement to cover electrical service costs to bring FPL power to the new pump station. Staff reported FPL construction costs of roughly $120,000 plus an $8,800 tariff; Broward County agreed to provide the additional funds through its Mobility Advancement Program. The commission approved the second amendment and the separate resolution authorizing the installation, by unanimous roll.
Next steps: Staff will finalize contracts and budget amendments and proceed with construction services for Juste Park Phase II, transmit the water‑supply amendment package to state agencies as required, and coordinate with Broward County and FPL to complete electrical service at the pump station.
