Curriculum committee approves curricular resources, assessment and program plans; forwards items to full school board

Elizabeth Charland, chair of the Cedarburg School District Curriculum Committee, presided over a meeting on May 7 in which the committee approved several curricular items and program plans and voted to forward each to the full Cedarburg School District School Board for approval.
Alli Rudich, director of curriculum, instruction & assessment, and educator Katie Schlicht presented a request to approve an Envirothon international competition trip scheduled for July 2025. Dr. Nick Silvaggi moved to approve the trip and forward it to the full school board; Laura Stroebel seconded and the motion passed, 3-0.
Rudich also presented the district’s 2025-26 Assessment Plan. Stroebel moved to approve the plan and forward it to the full school board; Dr. Silvaggi seconded and the committee approved it, 3-0.
On instructional materials, educators Jillian Mick and Derek Schaefer presented a German resource pilot update; the committee voted 3-0 to approve the German 1 textbook and forward the recommendation to the full school board. Separately, Heather VandeSande and Liz Smith recommended adopting HMH English curricular resources for the 2025-26 school year; Stroebel moved to approve that recommendation, Dr. Silvaggi seconded, and the motion passed, 3-0.
Kara Amundson, director of student services, presented the district’s Multilingual Learner Plan. Chair Elizabeth Charland moved to approve the plan and forward it to the full school board; Mrs. Stroebel seconded and the motion passed, 3-0.
Rudich presented the 2025-26 Education for Employment (E4E) Plan; Charland moved to approve the plan and forward it to the full school board, Dr. Silvaggi seconded, and the motion carried 3-0.
All of the items above were recorded in the minutes as approved by the three committee members present and to be transmitted to the full Cedarburg School District School Board for final action. The committee set its next meeting for June 4, 2025, and adjourned at 7:52 p.m.
