The City of Wauwatosa Planning Commission recommended approval to the Common Council for four conditional use permit requests: a child day care at 12012 West North Avenue; a fast‑casual restaurant at 860 North Mayfair Road; a no‑kill cat shelter at 10506 West Bluemound Road; and a Vietnamese‑style quick‑service restaurant at 6927 West North Avenue. All four recommendations were unanimous.
Rolanda Fowler, the applicant for Kids Cave and Learning Den, said her business plans to initially serve toddlers and expand to infants, with a capacity goal of 60–70 children and operating hours from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Friday. "We are looking forward to open a day care... to provide high quality, culturally responsive... services that support working families," Fowler said.
At 860 North Mayfair Road, applicant Zankar Amin described a quick‑service restaurant aiming to serve workers in the nearby corporate center with healthy, grab‑and‑go food; the commission approved the request based on staff recommendations. Corey Perugini, speaking for the cat shelter applicants (Happy Endings No‑Kill Cat Shelter), said the Bluemound building fit their needs to expand intake and public meet‑and‑greet space; Alderman McLough spoke in favor of that proposal. At 6927 West North Avenue, applicant Barry Yang said the business owner will offer Vietnamese‑style noodles, sandwiches, coffee and tea; the commission recommended approval on staff terms.
Each commission recommendation will be forwarded to the Common Council for final consideration on Feb. 24.
