Wauwatosa 'The Government Affairs Committee unanimously approved an intergovernmental agreement that would allow the City's fire department to supply one member to the State of Wisconsin's statewide Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) team.
Chief explained the team responds to significant incidents statewide and under EMAC (Emergency Mutual Aid Compact) nationally. The state will reimburse the city for training time the assigned individual commits and will cover salary and backfill/overtime costs if the member deploys for incidents such as flooding or other large-scale responses. Chief described the arrangement as a three-year agreement that currently expires in 2026, with expected renewal.
Committee members congratulated the department and moved approval; the motion passed unanimously.
