Council opens public hearing for Cappatosa Kitchen & Cafe; applicant, neighbors voice support

The Wauwatosa Common Council opened a public hearing on a conditional use permit for a breakfast‑and‑lunch cafe, Cappatosa Kitchen & Cafe, proposed at 11320 West Bluemound Road.
City planning staff provided an overview of the proposal, saying the applicant seeks to operate Tuesday through Sunday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., with occasional after‑hours events between 5 p.m. and 11 p.m. “A map of the site is up on the screen,” staff told the council and noted recommendations from staff will be included as conditions of approval.
Applicant Anthony Fulgurino introduced himself to the council and said he had nothing to add to the staff presentation. Two residents called or came forward to speak in favor: Indi Sluka said Cappatosa’s prior location offered “awesome customer service, great coffee drinks, great bakery items,” and Jeff Stuberg, a 32‑year neighborhood resident, said the applicant “was always a great neighbor.”
No speakers registered opposition during the hearing. The chair closed the public hearing and staff confirmed the item will be considered by the Planning Commission on Dec. 8 and return to the Common Council on Dec. 16 for further action.
Because the Planning Commission will make a formal recommendation at its next meeting, the council took no final vote on the conditional use permit tonight.
