Committee approves early fire apparatus delivery and a slate of city contracts

The committee voted unanimously to authorize several procurement actions, including accepting early delivery of an aerial ladder truck and awarding multi-year contracts for police uniforms and towing services.

The most urgent procurement was an aerial ladder truck the fire department ordered in March 2025. Staff requested a Level 3 fund transfer to move bond proceeds from the 2027 capital budget into 2026 to pay for early delivery. Finance Director Mr. Rudji told the committee, "We're already obligated to pay for this fire truck. It was preapproved for early order." Alder Gustafson moved approval, Alder Phillips seconded, and the motion passed 7–0.

The committee also approved a three-year police uniform and equipment contract with three one-year extension options after staff reported two responsive bidders. Captain-level staff described that the suppliers will outfit new and existing officers under the recommended arrangement; Alder Lewis moved approval, Alder Morgan seconded, and the vote was 7–0.

Separately, the committee approved a two-vendor towing contract for 2026–2028 with three one-year extension options, continuing relationships with existing vendors. Alder Morgan moved; Alder Lewis seconded; the motion passed unanimously.
