The Portola Valley Geologic Safety Committee voted to request that the town add a multi‑section web page modeled on the Wildfire Preparedness Committee’s site, with four subpages: earthquake preparedness tips (concise before/during/after guidance), maps and reports (a repository of geotechnical and USGS materials), geologic hazard presentations (videos/presentations), and laws and regulations. The motion also asked that a family‑oriented callout be added to the page’s email/horizontal bar area so parents and non‑specialist residents can find simple, actionable guidance.
Members emphasized designing content that is easy for residents to use in the 48‑hour window after a local event and agreed to prepare mockups and basic templates under Brown Act constraints so the committee can submit approved material to Darcy for posting. Committee members noted bandwidth constraints for large maps and recommended that heavy resources live on a separate resources page with low‑resolution thumbnails linking to full files.
The motion was seconded and approved by voice vote; the committee asked volunteers to prepare example content (three‑step preparedness tips, map links, presentations) for review at the next meeting so Darcy can post the initial pages. The committee also discussed process questions — whether the committee must vote on every item before posting — and agreed to coordinate with Darcy and consider a small subcommittee or reviewer list to streamline timely posting.
