At its March 24 meeting the council approved Resolution R-26-03-10 authorizing a fireworks contract with Pyrotechnico, took a first reading of rezoning ordinance O-26-03-12 and voted to enter a closed session to discuss real estate and potential litigation; the council also approved corrected minutes from March 10.
The Milledgeville City Council on March 24 unanimously approved a resolution authorizing a contract with Pyrotechnico to provide fireworks for the city's Independence Day celebration and took a first reading of a rezoning ordinance, then voted to enter a closed session for a real estate matter and potential litigation.
The clerk read Resolution R-26-03-10, which authorizes a contract with Pyrotechnico for fireworks. After a motion and second the clerk conducted a roll-call vote; Doctor Lee, Miss Simmons, Miss Mapp, Miss Pendergast, Doctor Wills and Miss Schanholster each voted "Aye," and the motion carried.
Earlier in the meeting the clerk read Ordinance O-26-03-12 by caption as a first reading. The ordinance would amend the land-development code to rezone approximately 0.94 acres at 394 Broad Street (Baldwin County tax map 07200163) from Office Institutional to Single-Family Residential (SFR-1). Mayor Pro Tem (speaker 3) referred the ordinance to the Planning and Zoning Commission for review; no final council vote was taken on the rezoning at this meeting.
The council also approved the March 10, 2026 meeting minutes with a correction after a motion to adopt was made and seconded; the clerk called the roll and the motion carried.
Later the council made, seconded and approved a motion to go into closed session to discuss a real estate matter and potential litigation. The council returned to open session and then voted to adjourn.
No contracts or ordinances were finalized beyond the fireworks contract approval and the first reading referral; the rezoning measure will return to council after Planning and Zoning review.
