The council approved a $181,275 change order for soil remediation on the Little River Park project to address poor soils encountered in the Woodlands area.
Project staff said crews have found unexpected areas of bad soil and buried debris that require remediation to allow trails and associated park work to proceed. The requested amount is part of the project's contingency; staff said unused contingency funds would be returned to the project after remediation.
Council voted 6–0 to approve the change order and allow the contractor to proceed with the remediation work. Staff said the remediation — removing soft soils, replacing with appropriate backfill and testing compaction — will reduce long‑term maintenance needs for the trail sections that cross the floodplain and other low‑lying areas.
