Senators on the Commerce Committee adopted an amendment to SCR 5 on March 18 to add the Secretary of State (or the secretary’s designee) as the officer of state protocol on the Louisiana–Ireland Trade Commission.
The sponsor said the commission provides a forum for trade engagement, including representatives from universities, the World Trade Center, Louisiana Economic Development and private‑sector industries. The amendment was requested by the Secretary of State’s office to formalize that role.
The amendment (set 853) was adopted without objection and SCR 5 was reported with amendments to continue the commission for another year.
