Planning commission approves modular storage facility in Airport Development District

The Adelanto Planning Commission on May 12 approved a location and development plan (LDP 24-10) to construct a modular storage facility for inactive computer parts on a vacant 4.14-acre site in the city’s Airport Development District.
Planner Christian Espinosa summarized the proposal and told commissioners the project was a permitted storage use in the Airport Development District and had been determined categorically exempt from CEQA; staff recommended adoption of the categorical exemption and approval of LDP 24-10 subject to standard conditions. "The subject site is determined to be categorically exempt from CEQA," Espinosa said.
David, representing TKY Architects and participating remotely, answered commissioner questions about public streets and stormwater. David confirmed the site has access points along Auburn and Jonathan and that Barcelona is not paved yet; Espinosa and David said paving of Barcelona was required by the fire department and engineering. David said detailed stormwater design (retention and outlet) will be engineered and that the team would follow engineering and fire requirements.
Chair Wagner moved Resolution P25-13 recommending adoption of the categorical exemption and approval of LDP 24-10 to construct the modular storage facility; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote.
Conditions of approval and typical engineering review (public street improvements, stormwater controls) will be required before building permits are issued.
