District updates capital projects and approves educational specifications for new Secondary Innovative Learning Center

District planning and construction leaders updated the board Feb. 25 on ongoing facility projects and near-term milestones, and the board approved a resolution accepting educational specifications for the Secondary Innovative Learning Center.
Dr. Gina Anderson, chief of innovation, compliance and school support operations, and Robb Stanton, executive director of school planning and construction, reported recent accomplishments including accepted bid packages for an elementary project, a community open house, completed design development for Skyline Elementary and finalized educational specifications for the Secondary Innovative Learning Center. They said field lighting work at Cavelero Mid High School and North Lake Middle School is complete, and staff expect to open bid packages for secure reception and special-education improvements at several sites.
The board then approved Resolution No. 3-26 to accept the Secondary Innovative Learning Center educational specifications. Director Mari Taylor moved the resolution, Director Ryan Dickson seconded and the board approved it by roll call vote. Staff noted the HLC gym project is expected to begin during spring break in April, with a subsequent groundbreaking for Elementary #8 and continued schematic design work for multiple projects.
The motions recorded in the minutes were unanimous. Next steps described in the presentation include opening the final bid package for Elementary #8 and continuing schematic design for a central kitchen and improvements at Glenwood Elementary and Lake Stevens Middle School.
