Clay County adopts meeting‑room use policy after facilities update

Olsen said the department completed more than 2,000 work tickets in 2025, has cross‑trained staff and implemented facility safety audits and emergency response teams. He also discussed lease and space management for the family service center and adjustments to equipment‑repair budget lines for the law enforcement center and jail due to aging systems.
Olsen then presented a proposed Clay County meeting‑room use policy, which limits meeting room use to official county business, county departments and organizations directly affiliated with county operations; personal, commercial and political uses are not permitted except through county administrator review for unique circumstances. He told the board the policy had committee review and county‑attorney input.
The board discussed local flexibility for tenant rentals and after‑hours staffing concerns and approved adoption of the policy by voice vote.
Commissioners praised facilities staff for operational improvements and the department's safety leadership.
