Trustees reviewed the Motor Fuel Tax (MFT) fund numbers for 2026 and discussed how the annual road program will be funded.
Presenter said, "Revenue is projected at $1,825,000 and expenditures at $2,950,000 which leaves a deficit of $1,125,000," noting that $2.75 million of the expenditure is for the annual road program. The presenter explained the deficit is a planned use of excess reserves and that the annual road program also draws on the capital fund.
Presenter noted Oswego receives supplemental high-growth allotments from IDOT; a conservative $150,000 was included in the 2026 budget with hopes actual allotments could be higher based on recent years. Trustees asked for a simple list of what the $2.75 million for public improvements includes; presenter said that is the village's annual street maintenance program but deferred specifics to Public Works staff.
Next steps: staff will supply additional line-item detail on the annual road program if trustees want it; no vote was taken at this workshop session.
