The Senate received a number of committee reports and advanced multiple bills for first reading across committees including Finance, Education, Judiciary and Workforce.
The clerk summarized reports from committee chairs: Jason Barrett (Finance) reported recommendations that several supplemental appropriations (including Senate bills 787, 791, 829, 873, 1,043 and 1,084) do pass; Roland A. Roberts (Workforce), Amy Ann Grady (Education) and Thomas E. Willis II (Judiciary) reported recommendations on originating committee items and committee substitutes. Several bills and committee substitutes were read for the first time and referred under existing double committee references to the Committee on Finance where noted.
Senator from Lewis made routine unanimous-consent requests to take up bills for immediate consideration and to read them first time; the chair indicated no objection for first readings to be advanced. The Senate received scheduling announcements (Rules Committee at 10:45 a.m.; Transportation & Infrastructure to meet after Judiciary). The session adjourned to reconvene the next day at 11:00 a.m.
