The West Virginia Senate adopted House Concurrent Resolution 13 commemorating the life and public service of Tony Eugene Whitlow.
The clerk read HCR 13 into the record, describing Whitlow as a devoted and loyal public servant and statesman. A senator who served with Whitlow offered a personal tribute, recalling that Whitlow served more than 20 years in the legislature, helped sponsor the state's scenic license plate and offered memorable remarks to colleagues. During the eulogy the senator described Whitlow's humor and concluded by noting that Whitlow died last year in a head-on collision with a wrong-way, drunk driver on U.S. 460 in Mercer County.
Following the remarks, the president called for the question; by voice vote the ayes appeared to have it and the president declared the resolution adopted. The clerk was instructed to communicate the action to the House.
