The Holly Area Schools Board of Education held three executive sessions on Feb. 9 to discuss student-discipline matters with parental permission under section 8(b) of the Michigan Open Meetings Act. Each executive session was followed by reconvening in public and a formal resolution vote.
The first discipline matter concerned student 2526-09; after reconvening the board approved the resolution on a 4–1 roll call (Mrs. Young recorded the lone No vote). The second and third matters — student 2024-14 and student 2425-23 — were approved unanimously on reconvened votes of 5–0.
Each motion to recess to executive session was moved and supported as recorded in the minutes, and each subsequent resolution to impose the recommended discipline passed by the recorded roll call counts. The motions and votes are reflected in the official minutes; the board took no additional public action beyond approving the stated resolutions.
Next steps: by statute and district policy, student-discipline records remain confidential; the board’s public record will note that resolutions were approved as recorded in the minutes.
