Holly Area Schools board approves resolution to let voters consider Oakland County enhancement millage

On Feb. 9 the Holly Area Schools Board of Education voted unanimously to approve a resolution requesting that a regional Oakland County enhancement millage be placed on the ballot for voters in the district to consider.
Mr. Deahl moved the resolution and Mrs. Young supported it; the board’s roll call was 5 Aye, 0 No. Superintendent Roper clarified during discussion that "a board resolution in Holly Area Schools is not an endorsement of the proposed millage," and emphasized that the board intended to preserve residents’ opportunity to vote on a regional funding question.
Board members asked no additional procedural questions during the public motion. The action directs district staff to cooperate with county election officials in making the ballot available to Holly voters; it does not direct the board to fund or advocate for the proposal. The board’s vote was procedural and preserves voters’ right to consider the county proposal.
Next steps: the county will finalize ballot language and timelines for the regional proposal; district staff said they will respond to election-office requests as required.
