Holly Area Schools approves contractor bids for Elementary Summer 2026 work

The Holly Area Schools Board of Education on Feb. 9 approved a slate of contractor bids for Elementary Summer 2026 work at Holly Elementary, Patterson, and Rose Pioneer schools. The board voted 5–0 to accept the contracts as presented.

The board accepted proposals covering selective demolition, concrete flatwork, rough and finish carpentry, metal panels, flooring, painting, visual display units, metal lockers, playground equipment, earthwork and utilities, landscaping and fencing. Contractors named in the bid package included Blue Star, Inc.; McCarthy Construction Co.; Graham Construction Corporation; JD Candler; D.F. Floor Covering; Niles Construction Services; Rayhaven Group; Sinclair Recreation; Bruce Lowe Excavating; Heritage & Company Inc.; Todd's Services; and Future Fence Company. The motion to approve the bid package was moved by Mrs. Young and supported by Mr. Deahl.

Board members recorded no discussion on the motion; the roll call vote was five Aye, zero No. The approval follows the district’s 2022 Bond Program schedule, which Superintendent Roper said remains on time and within budget. Superintendent Roper also noted punch-list work is near completion at Sherman Campus and that high school construction is complete, with fire-alarm wiring and storm piping scheduled during spring break.

What this means: contractors will begin or continue planned summer work to prepare school facilities for the 2026–27 school year. The board did not provide an overall single contract total in the public motion; individual proposal amounts were listed in the meeting packet and are summarized in district procurement records.
