Ria Jarawalo, branch manager at the Mount Healthy Branch Library, told the Mt. Healthy City Council during public comment about recent and upcoming programming, partnerships and public-safety measures.
Jarawalo said the library's youth and teen services recently hosted second-grade classes from South Elementary for story time and library-card signups, and that the youth librarian collaborated on Black History Month programming. She described a February martial-arts demonstration for teen customers and listed upcoming events: a talk by a Cincinnati Museum Center speaker on King Records and Herzog Studios next Tuesday at noon, and a tenants-rights session presented by the Brighton Center rescheduled for Tuesday, April 7 at noon.
On safety, Jarawalo said the library continues to collaborate with the Mount Healthy Police Department, with officers providing a police detail Monday through Friday from 3 to 6 p.m. In response to a council question about earmarked funds for the library, Jarawalo said she is "still working on it" and will follow up.
Why it matters: The library's programs connect schools and families to local services and cultural resources, and the added police detail is intended to maintain a safe environment for patrons during high-traffic hours.
Next steps: Jarawalo invited council and residents to attend upcoming programs and to follow up with library staff for more information after the meeting.
