The Mt. Healthy City Council voted Wednesday to adopt Resolution 26-1239, approving the planning commission’s recommendation to allow Chosen Cafe to operate a restaurant with alcoholic beverage sales at 8021 Hamilton Avenue.
City Manager Bauer told council the planning commission reviewed hours and alcohol-sales limits and "it seems like it'd be a nice addition to the neighborhood, nice restaurant," and said the application otherwise appeared in order. Council asked for clarification on the liquor license transfer. Council member Mr. Redding asked, "Concerning the liquor license, was that officially transferred?" Bauer replied that the city would sign off locally and the state would complete the formal filing and processing, describing the transaction as a transfer from Green Township into the municipality.
Mr. Redding moved to adopt Resolution 26-1239, Mr. Young seconded, and the council approved the measure by roll call. The roll call in the record shows affirmative votes from Mr. Redding, Ms. Dosa, Mr. George, Mr. Young, Ms. Russell, Mr. Custer and Ms. Gates. The resolution was declared adopted.
Why it matters: The approval clears regulatory steps for Chosen Cafe to open at the specified Hamilton Avenue location and signals council support for new neighborhood businesses while prompting attention to liquor-license oversight and local conditions on hours and special events.
Next steps: The business will complete any state-level licensing formalities required by the Ohio liquor authorities and proceed with local permitting.
