Mayor proclaims recognition for Warrenville athlete Amari Williams

The proclamation, read by the mayor, recounts Williams’s participation on the Wheaton Warrenville South High School track and football teams, his state championships in the IHSA Class 3A boys 300-meter hurdles in 2024 and 2025, a state-record time of 36.94 seconds, football honors including team captain and MVP recognition, the Red Grange Award for DuPage County football and inclusion on all-county and all-conference teams. The mayor noted Williams’s volunteer work with youth football programs and said Williams has committed to play football at Northern Illinois University on scholarship this fall.
"Congratulations," Mayor Johnson said in presenting the proclamation, noting that the athlete’s family and community support were part of the achievement.
The recognition was ceremonial; no action was required by the council.
