Warrenville council approves consent package including police operations assessment and salt purchase

Mayor Andrew Johnson presented the consent items, which include resolution R2025-43, approving an agreement with the Center for Public Safety Management for a police operations assessment in the amount of $48,500 plus reimbursable expenses not to exceed $5,000; resolution R2025-44, a contract with Compass Minerals America Inc. for bulk rock salt; and resolution R2025-45, memorializing a minor amendment to the Cantera Subarea 1, Lot 2 PUD to amend sign regulations. The council also approved appointments of Linda Robinson to the Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Awareness Commission (term to 04/30/2027) and Jeannie Dina to the Tourism and Arts Commission (term to 04/30/2028).
Council moved to accept and file minutes and commission reports and to receive financial reports: a report of invoices paid through July 2, 2025, in the amount of $232,087.85; authorization of expenditures for invoices due on or before July 21, 2025, totaling $650,836.78; and a wire transfers report for June 2025. Alderman Weidner moved approval of the consent agenda; Alderman Wilkie seconded. The motion carried on a roll call with aldermen voting aye.
City officials said the police operations assessment will examine department operations and staffing; the rock-salt contract will secure the city’s winter materials supply. The Cantera amendment was presented as a minor sign-regulation change recommended by the Plan Commission. The appointments fill vacancies on two advisory commissions.
The council took the consent vote as a package; no separate votes on individual consent items were recorded in the meeting minutes. The council then moved to new business, including a motion to enter closed session.
