Chair Marie Beck called the Scotland Recreational Committee to order at 7:05 p.m. on Jan. 14, 2025, and the committee unanimously approved the minutes from its Dec. 10, 2024 meeting after a motion by committee member Katie LeClair and a second from Monica Lindsay.
The committee discussed event planning for 2024–2025, including restarting a community yoga program. The minutes state that resident Blair Rollin secured an instructor; William Miller was named as available to teach on Wednesdays at 6 p.m. Committee member Monica Lindsay said she would contact town and school officials to restart the process of setting up the classes.
Members also discussed a summer bands series for 2025, with the committee proposing outreach to last year’s performers and a target of one band per month in June, July, August and September. During the event-planning discussion, Jim Troeger raised the possibility of organizing a town-wide tractor parade.
On budget matters, the committee reported there were no updates. Committee members discussed a scheduling conflict at the Fire Hall and agreed informally to move the next couple of meetings to Wednesdays at the same time to accommodate space availability. The committee set a special meeting for Feb. 12, 2025, at 7 p.m. in the Fire Hall and adjourned at 7:43 p.m.
The minutes do not record formal votes beyond the approval of the previous meeting’s minutes, nor do they specify funding sources or final approvals for events; committee members indicated next steps include outreach and coordination with town and school staff.
