At the Jan. 14 Scotland Public Library Board meeting, Treasurer Angela Maschka reported that the trust account is doing well and that the library was awarded a Pageau Trust grant (amount not specified). The board accepted the treasurer's report by motion.
Library Director Mary Geragotelis summarized December attendance and circulation figures and highlighted programs held last month, including a children's book author visit, a tag-making class and a cookie-tasting party. These activities were recorded in the director's report and are part of ongoing efforts to maintain community programming.
Under Unfinished Business the board reviewed facility and project items: the first Selectman has been notified about outdoor lighting problems and is expected to address them; the children's-section mural remains pending while the board awaits a response from a local artist and will consider other options; the Eagle Scout trail/bridge maintenance project is ongoing; and Poet Laureate Susan Powers will be taking some time off during the winter. No public comments were recorded at the meeting.
The board adjourned at 7:32 p.m. and scheduled further operational discussion, including a possible extension of library hours, for the next meeting.
