Residents urge Antioch to press PACE for later evening and more reliable paratransit service

Two residents’ representatives told the board Monday that PACE paratransit service in Antioch is insufficient for people who use wheelchairs and other mobility devices. Darcy Dussault, who identified herself as an Antioch resident, said she and Fran were representing Gerald Beadle and Bill Holzman, both of whom face transportation barriers.
"PACE is not available after 05:30 p.m.," Fran said in a prepared statement, adding that reservation availability is unreliable: callers often must book a week or more in advance and sometimes are told no trips are available. The speakers asked the board to request PACE expand evening runs at least until 8 p.m. and to improve same‑week scheduling availability for residents who use lifts and wheelchairs.
A village administrator told the board that staff had already contacted PACE after receiving the letter and had begun conversations with the regional transportation authority about grant‑funded services. "We plan to report back to the board once we are able to get some additional information from PACE," staff said, and indicated further follow‑up with county and regional partners would continue.
The board did not make a formal motion on the request during the meeting but said staff would continue outreach to PACE and keep trustees informed.
