Council member Kruger moved to bring the resolution back for reconsideration after new information from the executive's office identified two technical mistakes. Miss Long, staff briefing the council, said the amendment would (1) correct a hotel name in a recital — replacing an incorrect listing with "Courtyard by Marriott Tacoma" — and (2) change an appointee's designation from "first term" to "second term." The amendment was approved by voice vote.
Julie Murray (counsel to the executive) addressed the council during public comment about recurring challenges with staggered terms on boards and commissions and suggested a possible future proposal to simplify term-staggering rules to avoid repeated clerical confusion. After public comment, the clerk called the roll and the council adopted the amended resolution R2026-109, recording 6 ayes and 0 nays.
The change is procedural and corrects the record for the tourism commission appointments; council members and staff described the corrections as technical and necessary to ensure compliance and avoid future confusion.
