City Administrator Delisa Coggins told the Chesnee City Council on June 14 that restrooms at CADA Park are complete and are awaiting final inspection and locks. Mayor Bruce Mahaffey said the city will discontinue its service agreement with BRAGG and remove the porta-john from the park once the restrooms are open for public use.
Councilwoman Vertie Crawford recommended the city use social media to notify the public about how inclement weather would affect scheduled events, citing examples such as cancelled rides or bounce houses.
Administrator Coggins reported stump-removal work is scheduled to begin the day after the meeting at 6 p.m., with cleanup to follow promptly after the job’s completion. She also said the frequently mentioned property on W Cherokee Street has been sold and the new owner intends demolition.
The hospitality report noted Memorial Day events were successful with no complaints and announced the upcoming Labor Day Festival, scheduled for Aug. 30–Sept. 1. Planning and zoning reported three permits issued in June (two for new construction and one demolition), 13 inspections and three code-enforcement notices.
Mayor Mahaffey closed the meeting after a motion to adjourn from Mayor Pro Tem Lauren Dove, seconded by Councilwoman Vertie Crawford; the minutes record the vote as "all in favor."
