City Administrator Delisa Coggins told the Chesnee City Council the administration is discussing a one-time payout of up to 40 hours for employees who have reached maximum accrued vacation so those hours are not lost at the start of the year.
"Administration discussed the possibility of allowing employees that have accumulated excessive (maximum) vacation time, requesting a payout up to 40 hours so they will not lose it at the beginning of the year," Coggins said. She told the council staff will bring a recommendation for a formal vote at the October meeting.
The proposal was described as an administrative personnel matter; the minutes show the item as a planned recommendation rather than an adopted policy. The council did not vote on the payout at the Sept. 8 meeting.
Next steps: City staff will prepare a formal recommendation and ordinance or personnel policy language for council consideration at the October meeting, including details on eligibility, funding source, and whether the payout is a one-time exception or recurring policy change.
