The Elkhart Board of Public Works voted Feb. 17 to award bid 26-06 for City of Elkhart truck vehicles to EB Ford, approving a net bid of $368,304.45.
The board opened the bid packages and read certified summaries earlier in the meeting, which showed competing offers from Fleets Jordan Ford (base $442,246; net $429,746) and Ziegler Ford Lincoln (base $444,317.06; net unclear in the readback). After a short recess for staff review, a board member moved that EB Ford be awarded the contract as the lowest responsive and responsible bidder; the motion passed by voice vote.
Josh (fleet staff) told the board EB Ford offered “the most for our trades by quite a bit,” and recommended the award. Chair called for the vote and the board approved the bid award. The board previously assigned the bid evaluation to staff to allow time to verify trade deductions and responsiveness.
The approval follows the board’s procedural motions earlier in the meeting to accept no further bids, assign procurement reviews to staff, and then return for a final award. The board recorded no public comments opposed to the award and no dissenting votes were voiced during the roll call vote sequence.
Next steps: staff will finalize the purchase order and proceed with the vehicle builds as budgeted. The board indicated they expected staff to complete the contract paperwork and bring any final administrative documents back to the board if needed.
