The chief cited a confirmed trade‑in value of $3,800 and a total purchase price of $5,439; he said the remaining balance would come from the earlier sale of city motorcycles placed in surplus.
The chief also noted personnel reasons for the purchase: new hires and an upcoming retirement will reduce on‑hand spare firearms if replacements are not procured.
Council voted to approve the transfer to surplus and the trade/purchase authorization during the meeting; the motion carried by roll call.
