The Miami City Council approved a new logo for the City’s Emergency Management program after a presentation by an Emergency Management representative. The presenter said the department had previously used an older civil‑defense triangle and the new design was developed after reviewing FEMA and other counties for ideas; the proposed mark is included in the meeting packet.
The presenter said the logo’s intended uses are limited—doormats and vehicle markings were specifically mentioned—and noted that a fuller, more complex version would not be used for clothing. A council member expressed concern that the design, while decorative, might not be quickly recognizable as 'emergency management' to people who cannot read the text: "I don't look at that and think emergency management," the council member said.
Despite that concern, council members moved and recorded approval of the logo. The presenter noted the city retains the old civil‑defense emblem as well.
