Marshall Broadcasting cancels local low-power radio project; donors to be refunded

Marshall Broadcasting notified the Marshfield Common Council on March 10 that it has closed the planned WIBR low-power FM radio project and will return funds to donors.
"After substantial planning and development work, Marshall Broadcasting has made a decision to discontinue fundraising efforts for this project, cancel the construction permit, and cancel and close the facility ID associated with WIBR," David Murchland, community media coordinator, said. He confirmed the station was never built or placed on the air and that contributions would be returned.
Murchland said Marshall Broadcasting completed planning and outreach, program concepts and community engagement work but found that the station could not proceed. He described the effort as serious and thanked donors and volunteers. Council members thanked Murchland for his work and expressed regret that the project could not move forward; no council action was required.
The presentation served as the final closure notice for the project; Marshall Broadcasting will return contributions to donors as part of the closure process.
