Fallbrook board approves school accountability reports and instructional calendars

The Fallbrook Union Elementary School District board voted to approve the School Accountability Report Cards (SARCs) for multiple district sites and adopted instructional calendars for the 2025–26 and 2026–27 school years.
The SARCs, presented by Assistant Superintendent Tavka Bustani and co‑presenter student Jessie James, summarize each school's demographics, safety measures, academic performance and resource allocation. Bustani told trustees the reports combine prior and current year data and are intended to provide transparency; she noted SARCs must be posted online by Feb. 1 per state requirements.
"We have identified areas of strength, but we also are a system that focuses on continuous improvement," Bustani said during the presentation. A student presenter, Jessie James of Live Oak Elementary, joined the overview to illustrate how the reports reflect student experience.
Trustees asked clarifying questions about facilities and whether demographic subgroups can be disaggregated in future SARC releases; staff said they would pursue additional breakdowns upon request. After discussion, a motion to approve the SARCs for Fallbrook STEM Academy; Fallbrook Virtual Academy; La Paloma Elementary; Live Oak Elementary; May Alice Elementary; Mary Fay Pendleton School; Potter Junior High; San Onofre School; Santa Margarita Academy; and William H. Frazier Elementary passed with aye votes recorded.
At the same meeting the board adopted instructional calendars for 2025–26 and 2026–27. Trustees noted this is the first time the district coordinated calendars with the local high school to ensure alignment. The calendars were approved following a motion and roll call vote.
The board also received the Williams complaints second‑quarter report, which district staff said showed no complaints filed in the quarter. The SARCs will be posted online and made available to parents in both paper and electronic formats as required by state law.
